Join us for a special combination song circle + storytelling event with Mica Sun & Samara Jade (of Asheville, NC), coming to Chattanooga for the first time. First hour will be the song circle, followed by a performance of the duo’s original musical fable “The Floating Kingdom.”

About the song circle: Join Samara Jade, experienced song-leader and songwriter, for an hour of singing together - songs of Resistance, Resilience and Regulation. All songs taught will be original, learnable by ear, and relevant to these times and will include a variety of rounds, layered-parts songs and other singalongs.

About the Floating Kingdom: With original songs by Samara Jade and original story by Mica Sun, this duo of wandering bards weaves a theatrical tale relevant for our times called "The Floating Kingdom" — suitable for all ages, yet sophisticated enough to satisfy the most discerning of mythic palettes.

Mica and Samara bring a uniquely original (and yet ancient and familiar) marriage of story and song in “The Floating Kingdom,” an original, theatrical tale of reflection, journey and return. Fine oral storytelling dances with seasoned craftsmanship in music and voice, weaving puppetry with interactive song, original music, and classical fairy tale, themed by reflections on freedom, grief, aging, and the repair of our world. This original production — is guaranteed to delight and entertain while churning the gears of the mind and stirring the waters of the heart.

Quotes from audience members about the show:

“Samara’s expert songwriting and singing, mixed with Mica’s attention to the craft of his story – and his whimsical but thoughtfully constructed delivery – created a holistically and deeply entertaining experience!” - Kevin Herschmann

"I sat in my seat enraptured for the full experience, while also daydreaming what kind of stories I wanted to tell, what kind of stories our communities need. This duo is an absolute treat" - Jen Hyde

"Whimsical and profoundly moving, Mica and Samara took us on an epic journey that evoked both giddy laughter and heartbroken tears. This musical journey taps into the heart of the human experience: the pain of separation and self abandonment, and the path to wholeness and freedom by releasing what we cling so tightly to. Simply brilliant." - Annie Cottrill
